Sapphire Balustrades has developed a semi-frameless fixing option for glass infill panels for its Aluma aluminium balustrade system. This allows particularly neat detailing as the glass infills simply slot into the Aluma baluster uprights and/or handrail profiles, removing the clutter of traditional patch lugs, leaving a sleek, crisp appearance. Sapphire’s latest enhancement for the Aluma range provides specifiers with a cost-effective alternative to traditional framed balustrades while integrating the style of a structural glass balustrade. The range not only provides excellent aesthetics but gives ultimate corrosion resistance through the use of high grade aluminium extrusions.
Marketing Manager, Nick Haughton, says Sapphire Balustrades is committed to the ongoing development of its five distinct system brands to ensure they continue to deliver an unbeatable combination of looks, build quality and value. He comments: “Glass infills have a high perceived value and are sometimes avoided by specifiers when selecting a ‘budget’ solution. Sapphire’s expertise in glass design and high volume of glass infill throughput actually makes this infill one of the most cost-effective options across our range of systems. Now, with this latest fixing option for Aluma, we can offer the visual appeal of a semi-frameless glass infill panel as part of a cost-effective aluminium balustrade.”
Sapphire Balustrades’ Aluma range is a result of years of experience and development globally of aluminium structures to provide a safe balustrade solution with clean lines and contemporary appeal. Sapphire’s use of 6000 series aluminium for the system’s principal components provides an excellent smooth base for surface finishing with exceptional durability. The long lasting, low maintenance benefits of Aluma make it an ideal solution for external balconies and buildings, even in the most aggressive environments such as coastal areas, although the range is suitable for internal balustrading applications.
Sapphire Balustrades’ Aluma system is offered in a choice of clutter free baluster profiles with an aluminium, timber, or timber effect handrail. Balusters can be uncoated, anodised, or polyester powder coated in a wide range of RAL colours to complement individual design requirements. With Aluma removing the clutter of ugly glass clamps has now been made simple.
