Green Acre Grange, Dublin

History

Originally an independent village on the outskirts of Dublin, Dundrum has a history all of its own. More recently, it has been developed into a thriving suburb of the city centre, with brand new developments like this one at Greenacre Grange (previously known as Greenacres Dundrum), featuring 205 Glide-On™ Sapphire balconies.

Sapphire worked closely with Scollard Doyle to give this project a sense of aesthetic appeal the client felt was necessary to enhance the development, without needing to raise the cost of the overall project.

Considering the balconies were due to be connected within the façade itself as inset balconies, Scollard Doyle wanted an efficient installation. Sapphire’s inset balcony Cassette™ system means that the balconies can be installed in exactly the same way as a cantilevered design, using offsite manufacturing and a counterbalance system to install quickly and efficiently.

Sapphire’s design team created an inspired design – inset balconies that could be installed much like a standard Cassette™, but with a vertical bar balustrade design that catches the eye, moving back and forth to create ‘drama’ in the design. This solution meant that the balustrades could be connected to the handrail and Cassette™ in exactly the same way as standard vertical bar balustrades.
