We spoke to Leonardo Ponce, Associate at O’Mahony Pike Architects, about what rationalisation means for construction. Balcony design must be consistent across an entire scheme to ensure both cost-effectiveness and sustainability. Ensuring repetition of detail and reducing the number of balcony types can lead to very early decision making and a smoother supply process. Sapphire supports rationalisation throughout the early design process with a dedicated design team that work to identify opportunities to unify the balcony types. According to Leonardo, this can make the final result more aesthetically cohesive, with one previous project, Coopers Cross, having its balcony types reduced from 45 down to just 30.
