Archers Wood is a modern residential development located in Delgany, County Wicklow, one of Ireland’s most desirable coastal communities. Positioned close to Greystones and the Irish Sea, Delgany combines historic village character with growing demand for high-quality residential living.
The name Delgany originates from the Irish word “Deilgne”, meaning “place of thorns,” referring to the dense woodland that once surrounded the area. Today, developments such as Archers Wood reflect the village’s evolution, blending contemporary architecture with the natural landscape and established community.
Archers Wood forms part of a large residential scheme designed to support the continued growth of the Greystones–Delgany area. For this project, Cairn PLC required a balcony solution that could deliver consistent quality while supporting efficient construction across multiple buildings.
Sapphire was appointed to design, manufacture and deliver a balcony system that would simplify installation, reduce on-site complexity and support a repeatable process across Cairn’s expanding residential developments.
Cairn PLC set out with the ambition to create a replicable balcony installation process that could be implemented consistently across future developments. Achieving this required a balcony solution supported by the right expertise, supply chain structure and installation methodology.
Without a streamlined system, balcony design and installation can introduce unnecessary complexity into residential construction programmes. Cairn therefore sought a partner capable of delivering both a proven balcony product and a clear delivery strategy.
Sapphire brought extensive experience in offsite manufactured aluminium balcony systems, helping the project team understand complex structural interfaces and the benefits of adopting a systemised balcony approach.
By applying a methodology refined across numerous residential projects, Sapphire provided clear guidance on buildability, installation sequencing and design coordination. This enabled the Archers Wood development to benefit from a more efficient balcony journey while providing Cairn with a model that could be replicated across future schemes.
Through careful design coordination, offsite manufacturing and a proven delivery methodology, Sapphire helped simplify the balcony process from specification through to installation. This approach reflects our commitment to creating balcony solutions that are streamlined by innovation.
The project utilised Sapphire’s Glide-On™ aluminium Cassette® balcony system, a modular balcony solution designed for offsite manufacture and rapid installation. By manufacturing balcony structures offsite, the system reduces site labour requirements while maintaining consistent quality and performance.
The success of the Archers Wood project highlights the value of early collaboration between developer, architect, engineer and balcony specialist. By aligning design requirements with installation strategy, the project team was able to streamline balcony delivery while maintaining the architectural intent of the development.
As part of this collaborative approach, Sapphire worked closely with the project team to ensure the balcony systems were integrated effectively into the overall construction programme.
“It’s been a good experience working with Angus and the team at Sapphire. No issues.”
