Upton Park Block F & G

Upton Park is a well-known area of London once home to the West Ham football stadium formerly known as the Boleyn Ground. This development is situated just minutes from Upton Park tube station and a short journey from bustling central London.

Challenge

As planning had already been approved for the project the balcony design had to be kept in line with the original drawings.

Speed of install was very important because the balconies used previously elsewhere on the scheme had been particularly slow to install.

Solution

To keep in line with the details of the planning permission soffits were excluded resulting in a unique design to the underside of the balconies.

The balconies arrived prefinished ready to Glide-On™ to pre-erected support arms quickly and easily. Some were installed in as little as 6 minutes making the programme on site much quicker and more efficient.

Installation Process

Step 1: Schoeck anchors were cast into the slab

Step 2: Cassette® balconies were preassembled offsite, including the balustrades & decking.

Step 3: Cassette® balconies were transported on lorry trailers with a custom lorry plan to optimise efficiency. Balconies were pre-slung offsite ready for installation upon arrival.

Step 4: Once lifted into position, the Cassettes® simply Glide-On™ to the pre-erected support arms, before completing the simple mechanical fixings.
